To this end, the beneficiaries of water and soil conservation/soil defense and restoration (CES/DRS) activities are identified for the implementation of the approach.

This option is based on the assumption that CES/DRS techniques enable producers to improve crop yields. With this improved production, they can then donate a small portion of their cereal harvest (21kg) to support the poorest.

Objective

Develop solidarity and mutual aid at community level;

To help.

Prerequisites for implementing the approach

Support for the initiative;

Be beneficiaries of CES/DRS activities subsidized by Solidar Suisse;

Putting CES/DRS into practice.

Implementation process

Information/awareness-raising on the initiative;

Training and equipment for beneficiaries of CES/DRS activities subsidized by Solidar Suisse;

Setting up a local village solidarity committee (CLSV);

Follow-up of beneficiaries' CES/DRS activities;

Food collection from beneficiaries after application of CES/DRS techniques (21kg of food per beneficiary);

Reconditioning of food collected in 50 kg bags;

Identification of vulnerable people in collaboration with humanitarian action departments;

Organization of an official food distribution ceremony for vulnerable people.

Stakeholders in the implementation

Local project implementation partner (for awareness-raising, training-equipment, collection and endowment);

Solidar Suisse (promoter of the advisory support approach);

Decentralized humanitarian services (to identify beneficiaries);

Beneficiaries of the activities.

Direct beneficiaries

Poor and vulnerable populations in project intervention areas

Indirect beneficiaries

Family members of these direct beneficiaries

Benefits

This approach has the advantage of being a first line of help for vulnerable populations, before the state or humanitarian organizations can provide support;

This approach is supported by the communities because it is developed by the producers themselves for the poor without external support.

["GET
