The R\u00e9seau Education de qualit\u00e9 par le bi-plurilinguisme held its first ordinary general meeting this Friday, July 19, 2019 in Ouagadougou. Chaired by the Minister of National Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, the ceremony was attended by the Minister’s Charg\u00e9 de Mission, Adama TAMBOURA. <\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The agenda included a review of the past year and the adoption of a program of activities for the coming year. NGOs and associations active in formal and non-formal education join forces to promote national languages and endogenous knowledge in Burkina Faso’s development model. National languages can help facilitate learning in Burkina Faso schools. This is the belief of sixteen (16) civil society organizations working to ensure that these languages are taken into account in Burkina Faso’s education system. <\/p>\n

Created on July 20, 2018, the R\u00e9seau Education de qualit\u00e9 par le bi-plurilinguisme (REB) has set itself the mission of promoting national languages in Burkina Faso’s education system. The network is one year old, and the member CSOs thought it appropriate to take stock of their activities. For Mr. Dieudonn\u00e9 ZAONGO, Chairman of the REB Board of Directors and representative of the NGO Solidar Suisse in Burkina Faso, this financial and moral assessment of the REB is a review of what has been achieved during the year. <\/p>\n

The R\u00e9seau Education de qualit\u00e9 par le bi-plurilinguisme (Quality Education through Bi-Multilingualism Network) has been working to obtain official recognition, according to its president. “This gives him the legality to carry out actions in the field”.<\/i><\/strong> <\/i>he revealed. In order to draw up an action plan for next year, the members of the Board of Directors held five meetings over the course of the year. The Chairman went on to say that network members also took part in meetings on the promotion of national languages in the national education system.  ” To carry out these activities, REB has disbursed financial resources. The balance sheet for our activities amounts to 3,355,100 FCFA, financed by Solidar Suisse”,<\/strong><\/i> says Mr Dieudonn\u00e9 ZAONGO. Applications from CSOs wishing to join REB were also examined. <\/p>\n

Last year was a busy one in terms of activities, according to the Chairman of the Board of Directors. And the coming year promises to be just as full. “We also saw how to get the government to involve national languages more in teaching and activities”, he added.<\/i><\/strong> he added. To achieve this, the members of the R\u00e9seau Education de qualit\u00e9 par le bi-plurilinguisme already have their ideas, and all that remains is to put them into practice. <\/p>\n

The challenges and prospects of the R\u00e9seau Education de qualit\u00e9 par le bi-plurilinguisme include mobilizing members and own resources, and financing action plans. In addition, the network is asked to contribute to raising awareness of REB at national level. <\/p>\n
