“The populations of the project’s intervention regions live in an environment of peace and social cohesion, thanks to concerted management of shared resources, intra\/inter-community dialogue and the strengthening of local governance”<\/strong> is one of the RESICOM project’s priorities. Following the 1st and 2nd editions of the regional community day held in the Boucle du Mouhoun region, the 3rd edition was also well received by the populations of the Nord region. This 3rd edition, marked by several activities, was held on November 22 and 23, 2024 in the towns of Gourcy and Ouahigouya. <\/p>\n\n

The first day, November 22, saw a radio program on endogenous strategies for resolving land-related conflicts and recommendations for strengthening social cohesion within beneficiary communities, held in the morning at the Radio la Voix du Paysan studio. Taking part in the program were the RESCIOM project manager for the northern region, 02 RESICOM beneficiaries and a human rights specialist. <\/p>\n\n

This was followed by an atypical match called the “Peace Match” between two villages benefiting from RESICOM project interventions, Maco and Minima. This match was held in the afternoon on the Place de la Nation in the commune of Gourcy under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of the Zodoma province. (This type of activity contributes to social cohesion, and given the mobilization, the objective of mixing communities was achieved. I thank the NGO Solidar Suisse for this initiative, which contributes to the government’s efforts to restore peace in our communities.” <\/p>\n\n

The day of November 22 ended with a Participatory Theater on conflict sensitivity linked to the identification of the beneficiaries of RESICOM project interventions in the intervention villages. This participatory framework enabled the audience to interact and suggest possible solutions to the issues raised. At the end of the first day, Mr. Blaise SOME, RESICOM Project Manager, expressed his satisfaction with the high level of participation in both the soccer pitch and the forum theater. In his opinion, the message of social cohesion had been well conveyed, given the enthusiasm and the various interactions. <\/p>\n\n

The November 23 event provided an opportunity to share experiences on endogenous conflict management mechanisms, as well as to showcase the RESICOM project’s achievements through an exhibition of beneficiaries’ agroforestry production in the northern region. Chaired by the Governor of the northern region, represented by the High Commissioner of the Yatenga province, Mr . Tass\u00e9r\u00e9 NACOULMA<\/strong>, the fair brought together various stakeholders: regional administrative authorities, local authorities, customary and religious authorities, civil society organizations, implementing partners and, for the most part, beneficiaries from the various project villages (Oula, Gourcy, Rambo, Namissiguima, Bokin, Bassi, L\u00e8ba). <\/p>\n\n

Mrs. Fatimata SAWADOGO<\/strong>, a beneficiary from the commune of Oula, invited the population to prioritize social cohesion to facilitate the actions of the project, which contributes to improving the living conditions of vulnerable people. In her opinion, not everyone can benefit from project support, and the selection process for beneficiaries must be rigorous. <\/p>\n\n
