On October 29, 2024, a trades fair was held in the town of Kaya, bringing together 100 out-of-school or out-of-school young people aged 16 to 17, project beneficiaries and their parents. Also taking part in the fair were master craftsmen, representatives of the Regional Department in charge of vocational training, representatives of communal social services (Boussouma and Korsimoro), a representative of Kaya Town Hall and members of the ESU project targeting and monitoring committee. Organized as part of the “Education en Situation d’Urgence (ESU)” project in the Centre-Nord region, the aim of the fair was to “enable young people to discover and choose a trade that offers apprenticeships with master craftsmen”.<\/strong> The fair provided an opportunity to present the promising and innovative trades of the Sanmatenga province, with vocational training specialists and master craftsmen sharing their experience of the right attitudes, constraints and advantages of apprenticeships and trades. The fair enabled future learners to gain a better understanding of the trades sector, and to make informed choices about the trades they wish to learn. <\/p>\n\n

Ms. Adissa<\/strong><\/em><\/strong><\/em> OUEDRAOGO , women’s and men’s hairdresser, shared her experience of her profession.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n

As a reminder, the ESU project is an initiative that aims to promote inclusive, healthy and protective access to quality formal and alternative education for school-age children through :<\/p>\n\n

  • Support for the schooling of 145 internally displaced children;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • alternative education for 100 out-of-school 16-17 year-olds;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • improving teachers’ technical skills to enable them to better respond to the needs of education in emergency situations. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    The project is being implemented in the Sanmatenga province, Centre-Nord region, for the period from April 2024 to September 2026. It is co-financed by Solidar Suisse and Chaine du Bonheur. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
