As a reminder, Solidar Suisse was founded under the name \u0152uvre suisse d’entraide ouvri\u00e8re (OSEO) in 1936 by the Swiss Union of Trade Unions and the Socialist Party. OSEO was one of the first Swiss relief organizations to develop development cooperation and humanitarian aid. Since 2005, its international department has been an independent organization called Solidar Suisse. <\/p>\n\n

Solidar Suisse has been active in Burkina Faso since 1974, for a total of 50 years. Starting with direct cooperation with the government, it was not until 1991 that it obtained a headquarters agreement with the creation of a country office. Solidar Suisse works primarily with civil society organizations, local authorities and ministerial departments to implement various projects. <\/p>\n\n

Today, we operate in virtually every region of Burkina Faso, carrying out development, humanitarian and social cohesion projects, with the main aim of improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n\n

As part of the commemoration of our 50 years of action in Burkina Faso, we wanted to mark our commitment to improving the living conditions of vulnerable populations by building a borehole for the people of arrondissement 09 in the Ouagadougou commune<\/strong>. This arrondissement has recently seen a significant increase in its population, due in particular to the arrival of internally displaced persons. This has led to increased pressure on drinking water infrastructures, particularly during periods of extreme heat. <\/p>\n\n

Putting the borehole into operation with the beneficiaries<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n

Through this project, we intend to help solve the problem of access to drinking water in this district. The choice of site for the borehole followed a participatory approach involving the donor, the beneficiaries, the municipal authorities, in particular the Municipal Technical Services Department and the technical services of Ouagadougou district 09. The structure is equipped with a solar pumping system, with the following features: 03 m\u00b3 flow rate, a solar pumping system comprising 4 solar modules of 250 W each, a 04-metre-high metal support and a 05 m\u00b3 poly-tank with supply and distribution pipe to the tap. <\/p>\n\n
