Joint organization of the4th edition of the Regional Community Days and the2nd Symposium on Civil-Military Dialogue

As part of the implementation of the project Inclusive Dialogue for a “better life together” for peace and security in the Sahel Region, the Consortium Solidar Suisse & the Union Fraternelle des Croyants de Dori organized at the Centre pour la Paix Dudal Djam in Dori, from May 16 to 22, 2021, the4th edition of the regional day of communities and the2nd symposium on civil-military dialogue under the theme: ” Strengthening mutual trust to consolidate living together in the Sahel region”.

Under the patronage of the Minister of State for National Reconciliation and Social Cohesion, represented by his Chargé de mission Mr Dieudonné BADINI, and chaired by the Governor of the Sahel region, Colonel Major Salfo KABORE, these days were punctuated by the following activities:

– Recording and broadcasting of messages of peace and social cohesion delivered by the Governor of the Sahel region

– Broadcast on RTB, BFI 1 and 3TV of a film capitalizing on the project’s experiences.

– Pétanque pour la Paix et la Sécurité (PPS) competition, featuring 27 mixed teams of defense and security forces (FDS) and civilians.

– Big tea-debate moderated by the Governor of the region with the participation of administrative and political authorities of the region, notabilities  and religious leaders (Monseigneur Laurent DABIRE, Bishop of the Diocese of Dori, the representative of the Grand Imam of Dori, the Emir of Yagha), representatives of the various FDS corps, representatives of associations and NGOs, representatives of various socio-cultural and religious groups, women, young civilians and soldiers, internally displaced persons. These activities also saw the participation of eminent personalities, invited because they had already spent time in the Sahel or in Dori. These included General Kouamé LOUGUE, Madame Claudine LOUGUE, retired Colonel Karim NACRO, Colonel Rémi Joseph COUBOURA, Director of the Centre Culturel des Armées, in charge of civil-military dialogue, and Mr KI Soun Christophe, affectionately known as Vieux KIRAVI. These personalities gave edifying testimonies on social cohesion, hospitality, religious tolerance and the army at the service of the population, which have always characterized the Sahel region, before inviting the sons and daughters of the region and the population as a whole to join hands to stitch together the social fabric affected by the various tensions running through the region.

– Cultural fair (parade of 21 communities living in the Sahel, exhibition of traditional dishes, game of kinship/joking alliances between communities, fraternal meal).

As a reminder, the Inclusive Dialogue for a “better life together” for peace and security in the Sahel Region project is being implemented with financial support from the European Union.
