Land management is marked in particular by a lack of knowledge of the law on the part of the local population, by the administration’s powerlessness or inability to implement the law, and by the frequency of conflicts.

It was for this reason that, over two days, around forty development players made up of representatives of town halls, presidents of CSO networks and radio station managers, took part in this training session in the meeting room of the Ziniaré town hall on February 26 and 27, 2019.

The workshop’s objectives were to encourage the players involved to :
– Understanding the current legal framework for rural land tenure in Burkina Faso ;
– Identifying land tenure security structures in rural areas ;
– Familiarize yourself with the mechanisms for managing land disputes in rural areas;
– Understand the roles of the main players involved in rural land management
The workshop was a success insofar as it helped to meet the participants’ expectations, in particular through the insights provided by the consultants on points such as :
– Law 034/2009 /AN of June 16, 2009 on rural land tenure
– land conflict management and local rural land management structures
– procedures for establishing land possession
– the powers of the village land conciliation commission
In the opinion of participants, the knowledge acquired will make it possible to better manage potential conflicts and, above all, to help people secure their land.
