“To contribute to the sustainable strengthening of the resilience of agroforestry households, including IDPs, affected by the security crisis and climate change in the Bankui, Sourou, Yaadga and Koulsé regions”, was the objective of the RESICOM project. To achieve this objective, the project opted for the NEXUS approach, which articulates early recovery, development and social cohesion actions in the same space and at the same time.
To reduce the risk of conflicts linked to the exploitation of shared natural resources, the RESICOM project has set up grazing areas equipped with pastoral boreholes and vaccination pens, and introduced for the first time in its intervention zone, the cultivation of a high-yield, high-food-potential forage plant, pennisetum purpureum, commonly known as “Maralfalfa”. In addition to pastoral infrastructures, the project has contributed to conflict prevention through radio broadcasts, theatrical forums and the organization of regional community days.
