On August 11, 2022, the Association pour la Recherche et la Formation en Agroécologie (ARFA), local implementing partner of the “Promotion de l’accès des filles à un Système Educatif et de Formation Professionnelle de qualité (PROMESSE FP)” project, took provisional delivery of a newly-built education and vocational training center (CEFP) in the town of Fada. This model center is being built in the 04 regions where the project is being implemented (East, North, Centre-North, Sahel). Through this project, the Solidar Suisse, Educo and Aflatoun International Consortium intends to promote the socio-professional integration of girls and young women in these regions by strengthening their skills in professional trades.
As a reminder, the project, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Vocational Training, plans to open 10 centers in the project’s 04 regions.
Over a period of 09 months, 1,200 girls aged 16 to 19 excluded from the education system (including 420 internally displaced), will receive a basic education in the national language. They will also receive training modules in sexual and reproductive health (SRH), life skills, vocational training and entrepreneurship, so that by the end of their apprenticeship they will have developed both professional and social skills. Each of the 10 centers will host three (03) cohorts of 40 girls for the duration of the project.
At the end of their training, beneficiaries will be helped to draw up life projects and business plans, and will receive installation kits to start up their businesses.
In addition, 1,500 girls and women aged 19 to 35 working in the informal sector will also receive two (2) weeks’ training at the CEFPs, to help them become leaders in their field. This will enable them in turn to receive girls and women to coach them.
Beneficiaries’ skills will also be enhanced in the use of e-commerce platforms. In addition, for the certification of training in CEFP centers, the project is collaborating with the Permanent Secretariat for Certification of the Ministry in charge of vocational training, in order to enhance the value of the girls’ skills, which will contribute to facilitating their socio-professional integration.
