The PROMESSE FP project strengthens Northern women’s ecommerce skills

On Monday, September 5, 2022, training began in Ouahigouya for young girls and women in the use of new information and communication technologies (NICT) to promote their business activities. The training was orchestrated by the Yam Pukri Association as part of the implementation of the activities of the Promotion de l’accès des filles à un système Educatif et de Formation Professionnelle de qualité dans les régions du Sahel, du Nord, de l’Est et du Centre Nord du Burkina (PROMESSE-FP) project.

Over a period of 03 days, more than 30 women will be trained to master the WhatsApp business and Facebook platforms. The aim is to promote optimal use of these platforms for the development of their income-generating activities.

“We would like to thank the PROMESSE-FP project and the Yam Pukri Association for this training, which will enable us to promote our activities on the WhatsApp and Facebook social networks. confided Kadiatou SAWADOGO, a trainee hairdresser in the town of Ouahigouya.

When asked about the content of the training, Ms Wend La Rima Leslie LEOSSOGO, Project Manager of the Yam Pukri Association, confides: ” We help them to create Facebook pages, to master how to use WhatsApp business for commerce and to make online sales publications. We’ve also given them advice on how to conduct meetings when delivering products in public places, how to avoid meetings other than professional ones, and above all how not to believe everyone on the Internet”. Ms. LEOSSOGO added that 6,000 girls and women in the project’s 4 regions were targeted by the training. The YAM PUKRI association is in charge of building the e-commerce capacities of the project’s beneficiaries over the 2021-2024 period.

As a reminder, the PROMESSE-FP project aims to provide relevant solutions in terms of vocational training, employment and quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) for girls and women. The project is managed by the Consortium Solidar Suisse Burkina Faso, Fundacion Educacion y Coopercion (EDUCO) and Aflatoun International. The ultimate aim is to improve the employability and access to decent incomes of 15,625 girls and women through the promotion of an innovative vocational training offer using the Aflatoun approach and ICTs. It is being implemented with the financial support of the Netherlands Embassy in Burkina Faso.
