To promote sustainable rural development, Solidar Suisse places great emphasis on building the capacities of vulnerable populations (young people and women) and improving their living conditions. To this end, various initiatives are being undertaken to improve the livelihoods of young people and women and promote decent work. These include
their short-term vocational training in the agro-silvopastoral sector: market gardening, sheep fattening, breeder breeding, etc.
developing their entrepreneurial skills: by improving the know-how of young people and women, and introducing them to the use of social networks to promote their products;
easy access to financing by conducting studies on financing opportunities for young people and women, the results of which are brought to their attention at financing fairs attended by representatives of microfinance institutions (MFIs) and young people and women promoting promising trades;
improving women’s access to arable land and their participation in the development of their localities: through their involvement in the creation of production-support infrastructures such as market gardening areas and lowland rice fields;
Strengthening the livelihoods of people in the Oubri (formerly Plateau Central) and Nando (formerly Centre Ouest) regions affected by climatic shocks and the security crisis
