On March 07, 2022, a ceremony was held in the commune of Boussé (Kourwéogo province) to hand over agricultural equipment to producers belonging to the Tind Yalgré association (ATY). This initiative is part of the implementation of the Projet Renforcement des moyens d’existence des populations vulnérables (PROREMO-PV), financed by theNGO Solidar Suisse and implemented in the three provinces of the Plateau Central region. Scheduled to run for 04 years, the main aim of this project is to strengthen the resilience of the Central Plateau region’s populations in the face of poverty. One hundred and seventy (70) producers, including sixty-five (65) women from the province of Kourwéogo, are the lucky beneficiaries of the equipment distributed, having been trained in water and soil conservation/soil defense and restoration (CES/DRS) techniques to help increase their production. In the province of Kourwéogo, the project is being implemented in partnership with theTind Yalgré Association (ATY).
The official handover ceremony was presided over by Mrs OUOBA T. Germaine, Secretary General of the Kourwéogo province, representing the High Commissioner. In her speech, Mrs. OUOBA thanked the NGO Solidar Suisse for its support, which contributes greatly to the development of the local vulnerable population. She also invited the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment received to improve their agricultural yields.
“The materials received by the farmers will enable them to build stone barriers, manure pits, half moons and Zaï to improve agricultural productivity. This will contribute to improving food security, in line with Solidar Suisse’s strategy,” said Micheline OUAMEGA, Economy and Labor Program Manager at Solidar Suisse Burkina Faso.
