Carrying their children on their backs while working in the fields under the hot sun is an exhausting daily routine for many women farmers in Burkina Faso. To avoid risks for the child and relieve the mothers, the RESICOM project has developed and implemented the idea of a local day-care center called MaBYZ.

MaBYZ in the local Mooré language “Ma Baas Yiire Zaka” is a childcare initiative for children aged 0 to 6. It is an approach developed by Solidar Suisse to promote decent work. It is set up when there is a collective activity in a rural environment involving women with at least 10 children.

As part of the “Strengthening the community resilience of agroforestry households in the Boucle du Mouhoun and Nord regions” (RESICOM) project, 30 MaBYZ are to be installed in the Boucle du Mouhoun and Nord regions.
