Responding to the needs of host populations, internally displaced persons (IDPs), women and young people through early recovery actions for 3,000 households and livelihood reinforcement for 10,000 vulnerable households, is one of the objectives of the “Strengthening the community resilience of agroforestry households in the Boucle du Mouhoun and Nord regions (RESICOM)” project.
Vulnerable women who were not involved in any income-generating activities have started running small businesses thanks to the RESICOM project. This has been possible thanks to an endowment of equipment and advisory support since February 21, 2023, the date on which the handover ceremony for income-generating activity (IGA) kits was held for 237 women in the communes of Namissiguima, Gourcy, Rambo and Oula in the North region. Through these kits, the project aims to support the development of income-generating activities (IGAs), giving vulnerable women access to decent incomes to meet their daily needs.
Income-generating activities (IGAs) identified in collaboration with beneficiaries include the production and sale of cereal flour, shea butter, local juices, cakes, peanut paste, dolo, fritters, boule d’akassa, galettes, couscous (bassi), soumbala and porridge.
