As part of the “Support for strengthening local democracy and citizen participation in the Central Plateau” program, some forty associations organized into a network, 5 local media and 8 communes are interacting.
To achieve the objective “Contribute to boosting multi-stakeholder consultation mechanisms at local level”, several actions have been carried out aimed at promoting political dialogue, communication and collaboration between partner communities. In 2018, 8 communal consultation frameworks (CCCo) organized on various themes related to rural land management, the challenges of collecting own revenues, the assessment of actions and prospects for communes.
These CCCo events were key moments that enabled development stakeholders to address fundamental issues that had not been debated at council sessions.
They also provided an opportunity for citizens to express their democratic views on the management of local affairs, as they led to local authorities taking on board a number of recommendations, such as rehabilitating schools and CSPSs, asphalting rural tracks and operating drinking water supplies.
