On September 26 and 27, 2023, the second quarterly meeting of the year was held in the town of Ouahigouya for those involved in implementing the “Promotion de l’accès des filles à un Système Educatif et de Formation Professionnelle de qualité (PROMESSE-FP)” project.

On this occasion, the partners examined the level of implementation of the 2023 business plans, discussed prospects, assessed the level of implementation of activities, amended data collection tools as part of the project’s internal evaluation, and formulated a number of recommendations for the continuation of project activities.

The presentation of the progress report on activities by the 03 members of the Consortium reveals satisfactory physical and financial execution, despite a number of difficulties linked to the refocusing of the project at the beginning of the year, the inaccessibility of certain areas due to insecurity, financial constraints in the acquisition of certain equipment due to inflation, etc.

Exchanges between the various project stakeholders have led to the identification of a number of lessons learned, including :

  • The project benefits from strong support from administrative and customary authorities, community leaders, professionals and craftsmen, thanks to a strategy of involvement and sustained communication with them on the actions and approaches promoted by the project,
  • The Aflatoun social and financial education program has aroused particular interest among stakeholders and student beneficiaries as an approach that enables individuals to be socially responsible and economically autonomous;

In terms of prospects, these are essentially :

  • Produce and submit to the Dutch Embassy in Burkina, the PROMESSE-FP 2024 action plan and budget,
  • Continue to implement action plan activities in order to achieve a 100% completion rate by the end of the year,
  • Hold the annual review meeting of the 2023 project action plan in November with all stakeholders,
  • In view of the project’s end date of December 31, 2024, plan ahead for actions in 2024 to ensure that the project’s main actions are completed by the end of September 2024 at the latest.

To measure the effects of the project’s actions, the consortium intends to conduct an internal evaluation. To this end, the meeting provided an opportunity to present and discuss the data collection tools and interview guides with participants. In addition to making amendments, participants learned how to use these tools through the ODK collect software.

The PROMESSE-FP project is being implemented by the Solidar Suisse- Educo and Aflatoun International consortium in 04 regions (Sahel, North, East and Centre North) in collaboration with partners ARFA, Tin-Tua, OCADES Ouahigouya, OCADES Kaya, CCEB, APIJ-CN, Tabital Lobal, CRUS and UFC Dori. Funding for the project is provided by the Dutch Embassy in Burkina Faso. The project began on May 1, 2021 and ends on December 31, 2024.
