“Bring state and civil society actors to appropriate the content of social and financial education (SFE) in order to perceive the added value of its integration into teaching curricula.” This is the aim of the information and awareness-raising workshops on SFE organized for local and national players.

To this end, from April 25 to 27 and May 02 to 05, 2023, the Cadre de concertation des ONG et associations actives en éducation de base (Cceb-Bf), an implementing partner of the NGO Aflatoun International, brought together journalists from the national press (radio, TV, print media), players from the Ministry of Education and officials from the Burkina Faso Prime Minister’s Office.

On this occasion, participants were provided with tools on social and financial education, and invited to get involved in the process of integrating SFE into curricula through media productions and lobbying of education stakeholders in Burkina Faso.

As a reminder, these information and awareness-raising meetings are part of Axis 1 of the PROMESSE-FP project “𝗔𝗺𝗲́𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲́𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝘂 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲̀𝗺𝗲 𝗲́𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗲́”. To achieve this, the project ultimately intends to:

  • implement curricula for financial education and life skills, including aspects related to gender inequality, in 200 post-primary and secondary schools in the 04 intervention regions (North, Centre-North, East, Sahel);
  • strengthen the skills of teachers and educational supervisors in life skills and financial education;
  • set up 230 clubs in post-primary and secondary schools, as well as in vocational training centers: spaces for exchange, dialogue, practice of everyday life and learning between beneficiaries to improve their knowledge of society, generate debate on their conditions, practice savings activities, visit financial institutions and others;
  • build the skills of club members so that they can carry out awareness-raising, advocacy, women’s leadership and financial education initiatives, etc.
