In Burkina Faso, according to the results of the 5th General Population and Housing Census (RGPH, 2019) 77.9% of the population is under 35. This demographic configuration is an important asset for development, provided that young people are trained and integrated into the labor market. Unfortunately, the lack of an environment conducive to job creation makes it difficult for young people, particularly girls and women, to access technical and vocational training that meets market needs.
It is in this context that the Consortium “Solidar Suisse-Educo-Aflatoun International has initiated the project Promotion de l’accès des filles à un système éducatif et de formation professionnelle de qualité (PROMESSE-FP) for the period 2021-2024. Funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Burkina Faso, this project aims to improve the living conditions of girls and women in the Sahel, North, North Central and East regions, through better access to the labor market and decent incomes. In terms of vocational training, it will benefit 3,100 girls and women.
