“To present a global orientation on financial education, the mechanisms and mode of integration of social and financial education in secondary education (general and vocational)”. This was the aim of the workshop, held from March 14 to 18, 2022 in the town of Ziniaré, which brought together players from the Ministry of National Education, the Ministry of Youth, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, representatives of the NGO consortium Solidar Suisse Burkina, educo and Aflatoun International, as well as experts in the field of education.
The workshop, which ended today, provided a framework for clarifying social and financial education, identifying potential social and financial education modules, and drawing up a guidance document for political decision-makers. In addition, a national committee made up of representatives of civil society organizations, NGOs, financial institutions and political decision-makers has been set up to monitor the process of integrating social and financial education into curricula.
The workshop was part of the implementation of the “Promotion de l’accès des filles à un Système Educatif et de Formation Professionnelle de qualité (PROMESSE-FP)” project, run by the NGO consortium Solidar Suisse- Educo and Aflatoun International, with financial support from the Netherlands Embassy in Burkina Faso. On this occasion, Ms Micheline OUAMEGA, Program Manager for Economy and Labor at Solidar Suisse Burkina Faso, thanked the various players for their involvement, as well as the government for its willingness to identify financial education as an important lever for accelerating financial inclusion in Burkina Faso. The representatives of the Ministry of Education, present at the workshop, thanked the Consortium for the PROMESSE-FP initiative, through the concept of social and financial education, which comes at the right time to facilitate the implementation of the process of reforming training programs at national level.
