On Thursday June 30, 2022, the first session of the steering committee for the “Promotion de l’accès des filles à un Système Educatif et de Formation Professionnelle (PROMESSE-FP)” project was held in Ouagadougou.
This committee, made up of 20 members from state institutions and NGOs involved in vocational training issues, is the technical body responsible for monitoring and guiding the implementation of PROMESSE-FP project activities.
This first session served as a framework for clarifying the committee’s roles and responsibilities, presenting the project and reporting on the implementation of the 2021 action plan and the 2022 work plan.
At the end of the discussions, the 2021 annual report and 2022 work plan presented were unanimously approved by the committee members. The activities included in this plan include: the continuation of apprenticeships for beneficiaries with master craftsmen, the launch of training courses in vocational training centers, advocacy for the integration of social and financial education into teaching curricula, and capacity-building for beneficiaries in the management of their reproductive health.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Koudpiga YERBANGA, Head of the vocational training budget program of the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Employment, Chairman of the steering committee, thanked the members for their commitment and invited the project’s technical team to take into account the recommendations made to achieve the PROMESSE FP project objective of “Improving access for girls and women in the intervention regions to a quality education and vocational training system and to decent incomes”.
The project is funded by the Dutch Embassy in Burkina Faso. It is being implemented in the Sahel, North, East and Centre-North regions by the NGO Consortium: Solidar Suisse Burkina – Educo BURKINA – Aflatoun International with the support of local partners (ARFA, OCADES Kaya et Ouahigouya, CCEB, UFC Dori, #CRUS, Tin Tua , Tabital lobal, APIJ CN).
