As part of the project to promote access for girls and women to a quality education and vocational training system (PROMESSE-FP), the Association pour la Recherche et Formation en Agroécologie (ARFA) organized a ceremony on June 13, 2023 in the town of Fada N’Gourma, to hand over installation kits to 360 girls and women aged 15-35 from the East region.
A view of the beneficiaries
Chaired by the President of the Special Delegation of the Fada N’gourma commune, Mr. Jérôme IDANI, the ceremony provided an opportunity for the beneficiaries (2021 and 2022 cohorts of the project) to receive installation kits on completion of their training. These beneficiaries are divided into seven (07) trades: sewing, hairdressing, weaving, solar energy, sanitary plumbing, saponification and dairy product processing.
In the words of Mr Jérôme IDANI, this support comes at just the right time to help meet one of the major challenges to the socio-professional integration of female learners in vocational training, namely the frequent lack of support in the form of installation kits. He also invited the beneficiaries to make good use of the equipment they received, so as to achieve good results in the exercise of their profession, and serve as an example to other young people.
Mr. Saydou SAVADOGO, PROMESSE-FP Project Manager, recalling the project’s objective “to improve access for girls and women in the intervention regions to a quality education and vocational training system and to decent incomes”, hopes that this endowment will enable beneficiaries to exercise their trade properly and generate income to meet their family needs. As a reminder, the project is being implemented by the Solidar Suisse- Educo and Aflatoun International consortium in 04 regions (Sahel, North, East and Centre North) in collaboration with local partners including the NGO ARFA in the East region. The total cost of the installation kits for today’s 360 beneficiaries is 51,642,880 FCFA. Funding for the project is provided by the Dutch Embassy in Burkina Faso.
