About the approach
A MaBYZ in the local Mooré language “Ma Baas Yiire Zaka” is a childcare initiative for children aged 0 to 6. It is an approach developed by Solidar Suisse to promote decent work. It is set up when there is a collective activity in a rural environment involving women with at least 10 children.
Objective
- Free women from childcare to promote their socio-economic development
- Improve the quality of integrated health, nutrition, hygiene and education services for children aged 0 to 6.
- Stimulate psychomotor and psychoaffective awareness and development
Prerequisites for implementing the approach:
- Presence of an economic activity or training center involving women of childbearing age
- Presence of women with children aged between 0 and 6, up to 10 in number
- Good knowledge of the approach’s beneficiaries and their buy-in
Implementation process
- Identify or set up premises or shelters where children can gather;
- Identification and training of local facilitators;
- Community food collection to help feed children;
- Operating and entertainment equipment
