According to the conclusions of the 1996 World Food Conference, “Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food to meet their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.
Solidar Suisse Burkina Faso, through its Economy and Work Program (ET), aims to improve food security through the development and/or strengthening of the livelihoods of indigenous and displaced populations, as well as their resilience in these areas in the face of climate change and security crises. This takes the form of training farmers in water and soil conservation/soil defense and restoration (CES/DRS) techniques such as Zaï, stone cordons, manure pits, half moons and agroecology through the production of the organic fertilizer “Bokashi”.
In addition, Solidar Suisse Burkina Faso strengthens farmers’ capacities by providing them with agricultural equipment.
